Weights

Another term for parameters — the stored knowledge inside a trained AI model.

Definition

Weights and parameters are two terms for the same thing: the numerical values that define how a trained AI model behaves. The word 'weight' comes from the training process, where the model adjusts the relative importance (weight) of different connections in response to seeing examples. After training, these values are fixed — they represent the model's learned knowledge and determine its responses to any given input.
