Net Zero Commitment

Important notice: This document sets out a voluntary aspiration. It does not constitute a legally binding commitment, contract, or representation. Progress towards these goals is subject to a wide range of factors outside our control, and no liability arises from any failure to achieve them by the stated date or at all.

1. Our Aspiration

Coaley Peak Ltd aspires to reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions across our operations by 2037. This is a voluntary, non-binding goal that reflects our belief that businesses of all sizes have a role to play in the transition to a low-carbon economy.

“Net zero” means reducing our greenhouse gas emissions as far as possible and balancing any remaining residual emissions through credible, verified carbon removal or offsetting measures.

2. Our Current Position

As an AI consultancy and technology services provider, our direct environmental footprint is relatively small. Our primary sources of emissions are:

  • energy consumption associated with our office and remote working arrangements;
  • business travel;
  • the embodied carbon in employee devices and equipment; and
  • cloud computing and digital infrastructure used to deliver our services.

We do not operate manufacturing facilities, vehicle fleets, or other high-emission assets. We have not yet completed a formal baseline carbon footprint assessment, and we acknowledge that our understanding of our full value-chain emissions (Scope 3) is incomplete.

3. What We Are Doing

The following actions are already in place or planned as part of our journey towards net zero:

  • Remote-first working: our business model minimises commuting and business travel by default.
  • Cloud infrastructure: we use cloud providers who publish their own net zero and renewable energy commitments.
  • Supplier awareness: our Supplier Code of Conduct encourages suppliers to consider their environmental impact.
  • Responsible procurement: we seek to extend the life of equipment and avoid unnecessary hardware refresh cycles.
  • Policy framework: our Environmental and Sustainability Policy sets out broader environmental commitments.

4. Our Pathway to 2037

We intend to work towards our 2037 aspiration through the following steps, subject to review as our business grows and as best practice evolves:

  • By 2026: complete an initial carbon footprint baseline covering Scope 1, 2, and material Scope 3 emissions.
  • By 2028: identify and implement primary reduction measures across our highest-impact emission sources.
  • By 2032: reduce absolute emissions against our 2026 baseline; adopt a credible offsetting strategy for residual emissions.
  • By 2037: reach net zero, with residual emissions balanced by verified carbon removal or high-quality offsets.

We will report on progress against these steps in our annual sustainability updates, published on this page.

5. Limitations and Honest Caveats

We want to be straightforward about what this commitment is and is not:

  • This aspiration is non-binding. It is a statement of intent, not a legal obligation.
  • The 2037 target date may change as we develop a better understanding of our emissions profile and the feasibility of reduction measures.
  • Carbon offsetting is a supplementary measure, not a substitute for genuine emission reductions. We will prioritise reductions over offsets.
  • We have not yet had our emissions or commitments independently verified. We intend to seek third-party verification as our programme matures.
  • Scope 3 emissions (those embedded in our supply chain and client activities) are difficult to measure and influence. Our ability to address them fully is limited.

6. Review

This commitment will be reviewed annually and updated to reflect progress made, changes in our business, and developments in net zero science and best practice. Questions or comments can be directed to the directors of Coaley Peak Ltd.
