Prompting & Interaction

Prompt Chaining

Linking multiple prompts together so the output of one feeds into the next.

Definition

Complex tasks are often too long or multi-step for a single AI interaction. Prompt chaining breaks the task into stages, where the output from one step becomes the input for the next. For example: first extract key facts from a document, then use those facts to draft a report, then use the draft to generate an executive summary. This allows more reliable outputs on complex workflows and makes it easier to inspect and correct intermediate results.
