Prompting & Interaction

One-Shot Prompting

Giving a single example before asking the AI to perform a task.

Definition

One-shot prompting provides a single example of the desired input-output pattern before the actual task. It's a middle ground between zero-shot (no examples) and few-shot (several examples). A single example is often enough to show the model the desired format or style, particularly for straightforward tasks. When in doubt, providing at least one example is a reliable way to improve consistency.
