Performance & Evaluation
Accuracy
How often an AI produces correct outputs on a given task.
Definition
Accuracy is the most intuitive measure of AI performance: out of all the predictions or responses the model produces, what proportion are correct? It is most meaningful for classification tasks — where there is a clear right or wrong answer. For language generation tasks, accuracy is harder to define — responses exist on a spectrum of quality rather than being simply correct or incorrect, which is why other metrics like human evaluation are also used.
Related Terms
Benchmark

Precision
The proportion of the AI's positive predictions that are actually correct.
Recall
The proportion of actual positives that the model correctly identifies.
F1 Score
