Classification
AI assigning text or content to predefined categories.
Definition
Text classification is the task of assigning a label to a piece of text from a set of categories. Examples include: classifying support tickets by topic and urgency, categorising invoices by expense type, tagging news articles by subject, or routing emails to the correct team. LLMs can perform zero-shot classification on new categories without retraining, making them far more flexible than traditional machine learning classifiers for many business applications.
