About the role
Coaley Peak is growing, and we need more of the right conversations happening with the right people. As a Business Development Executive, you will sit at the top of our commercial funnel: identifying prospect organisations, crafting thoughtful outbound approaches, and booking qualified meetings with senior stakeholders who could genuinely benefit from what we do.
This is not a high-volume, script-reading role. We do not believe in cold-calling 200 people a day and annoying most of them. You will work closely with our marketing team on targeted campaigns, with our Client Solutions Directors to understand what a good client looks like, and with the wider business to build a genuinely credible outbound motion.
You will use modern tools (AI-assisted research, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, sales engagement platforms, and our own AI engines) to work smarter, personalise at scale, and focus on quality over quantity. You will be expected to write well, think commercially, and build real credibility with the senior people you are trying to reach. This role reports into the Client Solutions team and works hand-in-glove with marketing.
The kind of person we are looking for
At Coaley Peak, the technical work is only half the job. We are looking for people who are genuinely reliable, who do what they say they will, when they said they would, without needing to be chased. People who are friendly and easy to work with, both with colleagues and with clients. People who can sit in a boardroom and explain a complex AI model in plain English, and then go back to their laptop and write clean, well-documented code. People who are hungry, hard-working, and take real pride in their output, not because someone is watching, but because that is simply how they operate.
Specifically for this role: you are commercially curious (you read, you follow the sectors we work in, you can hold a conversation about a prospect's business on its own merits). Resilient without being pushy. Good at writing short, sharp emails that people actually want to read. Comfortable picking up the phone when it is the right thing to do. You treat your pipeline as a reflection of your thinking, not just your activity. You probably have 2 to 4 years of sales experience (BDR, SDR, account management, or similar) and are looking for a role with real ownership and a smarter approach than most.
What you will do
- →Build and execute targeted outbound campaigns into identified prospect accounts using a mix of personalised email, LinkedIn, phone, and content-led approaches
- →Work alongside the marketing team on integrated campaigns (events, webinars, content) and follow up on marketing-generated leads with speed and professionalism
- →Research prospect organisations thoroughly before outreach (financials, sector trends, likely priorities) and craft messaging that reflects that understanding
- →Qualify inbound enquiries and route them appropriately within the Client Solutions team
- →Book discovery meetings for Client Solutions Directors, ensuring prospects are properly briefed and meetings have clear commercial intent
- →Maintain accurate, up-to-date pipeline data in our CRM with honest forecasting
- →Feed market intelligence back to the wider team: what sectors are biting, what messaging is landing, which campaigns are converting
- →Contribute to sales collateral, prospect research packs, and outbound content
- →Track and report on outbound activity, response rates, and meeting outcomes
- →Ensure all prospecting activity complies with UK GDPR, PECR, and Coaley Peak's internal data handling standards
What we are looking for
Essential
- →2 to 4 years of experience in a sales, business development, or similar B2B commercial role
- →Demonstrable track record of generating qualified pipeline through outbound activity
- →Excellent written communication, able to write short, thoughtful, well-researched outreach that stands out in a crowded inbox
- →Confident on the phone and in prospect meetings; able to handle objections gracefully
- →Comfortable with modern sales tools (CRM, sales engagement platforms, LinkedIn Sales Navigator or similar)
- →Commercially curious, with a genuine interest in business, technology, and how organisations work
- →Right to work in the United Kingdom
Desirable (not essential)
- →Experience selling consulting, professional services, SaaS, or technology (AI-related a bonus)
- →Experience working alongside a marketing team on integrated or account-based campaigns
- →Familiarity with HubSpot, Salesforce, Apollo, Outreach, or similar platforms
- →Exposure to account-based marketing (ABM) or structured outbound methodologies
- →Working understanding of UK data protection rules as they apply to B2B prospecting (UK GDPR, PECR)
What we offer
- →£25,000 – £32,000 base salary (DOE) plus on-target earnings up to £50,000 per annum, with uncapped commission on closed business you originate
- →28 days annual leave plus bank holidays
- →Flexible hybrid working, London office, Cheltenham HQ, with some remote
- →Private healthcare and employee assistance programme (EAP)
- →£2,000 annual professional development budget
- →A modern outbound tool stack: we invest in tools that make the job smarter, not harder
- →A real progression path into senior sales and Client Solutions Director roles
- →Regular team offsites and an annual international travel programme
- →Accredited Living Wage Employer
