About the role

Coaley Peak's AI engines — Owlpen, Anvil, Flint, and Warden — are products used by clients and our internal teams every day. As a Full-Stack Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for the web applications, APIs, and integrations that make those engines accessible, reliable, and excellent to use.

You will work across the full stack: Next.js front-ends, Node.js or Python APIs, database design, third-party integrations, and deployment infrastructure. You will ship features that are clean, well-tested, and documented — and you will care about the experience of the person using them, whether that is a client's finance director or a Coaley Peak colleague.

This is a hands-on engineering role with real product ownership. You will work closely with our data scientists and automation engineers to bring capabilities to life in the browser, and with our client solutions team to understand what users actually need.

The kind of person we are looking for

At Coaley Peak, the technical work is only half the job. We are looking for people who are genuinely reliable — who do what they say they will, when they said they would, without needing to be chased. People who are friendly and easy to work with, both with colleagues and with clients. People who can sit in a boardroom and explain a complex AI model in plain English, and then go back to their laptop and write clean, well-documented code. People who are hungry, hard-working, and take real pride in their output — not because someone is watching, but because that is simply how they operate.

You write code that other people can read. You think about edge cases before your reviewer points them out. You care about performance, security, and accessibility — not because someone told you to, but because you understand why they matter. You are happy to ship a pragmatic solution today and improve it properly next sprint, but you know the difference between pragmatism and sloppiness. You enjoy working across the full stack and get genuine satisfaction from seeing a feature go from a conversation to a deployed, working thing that people use.

What you will do

  • Build and maintain full-stack web applications using Next.js (App Router), TypeScript, and Node.js
  • Design and implement RESTful and GraphQL APIs that serve our AI engine outputs to client-facing dashboards
  • Integrate with third-party platforms and APIs (LLM providers, CRM systems, analytics tools, payment providers)
  • Collaborate with data scientists and automation engineers to productionise AI capabilities as user-facing features
  • Write unit, integration, and end-to-end tests; maintain CI/CD pipelines
  • Contribute to infrastructure and deployment (Vercel, GCP/AWS, Docker)
  • Participate in architecture decisions and technical planning for new product features
  • Maintain clear technical documentation in line with ISO 9001 quality standards

What we are looking for

Essential

  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript and modern React (Next.js App Router preferred)
  • Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
  • Solid understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL or similar) and SQL
  • Experience with version control (Git), code review, and modern development workflows
  • Attention to detail and a high personal standard for code quality
  • Right to work in the United Kingdom

Desirable (not essential)

  • Experience integrating with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar)
  • Familiarity with Tailwind CSS and component-driven UI development
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure) and infrastructure-as-code
  • Experience with data visualisation libraries (Recharts, D3, or similar)
  • Prior work at a software consultancy or product company

What we offer

  • Salary of £50,000 – £72,000 per annum, dependent on experience, reviewed annually
  • 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Flexible hybrid working — remote-first (UK), with optional Cheltenham HQ access
  • Private healthcare and employee assistance programme (EAP)
  • £2,000 annual professional development budget
  • Access to the latest tooling, hardware budget, and compute resources
  • Regular team offsites and an annual international travel programme
  • High-trust, outcome-focused culture with real product ownership
  • Accredited Living Wage Employer
